The Full Report: First off, I just want to say that I won my first Duathlon!.... no big deal. I was training to complete the Portland Triathlon but due to the water toxicity in the Willamette, they canceled the swim portion and added an extra running event. I trained about six days a week, nothing too different from my normal workout regiment, but just added swimming laps at community center by my house.

The racing community out there was great, everyone was very friendly and genuinely stoked to be out there pushing themselves and having fun! Mountain Hardwear was kind enough to sponsor me with some running gear for training purposes. My Mountain Hardwear Cool Runner tee kept me cool as I sweated and was super breathable, which trust me was much needed. I also wore the Mountain Hardwear Apparition Jacket in the morning for warm-ups to keep me at a good comfortable temperature. It was also compatible for storage at my transition area. My favorite item, however, was the Iron Man socks by Wigwam. They keep your feet cushioned, very durable, high raised ankle back for blister and rubbing prevention, and lots of support.

If you have never tried an event like this I would highly recommend it. I've completed other running events from 5k to half marathons but never anything like this. It was a little nerve racking beforehand, but after completing the Portland Triathlon(Dualthon), I'm hooked and would encourage ANYONE with any range of athleticism to participate.
