I just spent a day at Red MountainResortand I have to say What A Treat!!! This place really blew my expectations away. I always thought that Red was a cool locals hill, small with some steeper stuff, but this place is anything but small. They have a 360 degree ski mountain with long beautiful groomers and long steep sustained pitches both open and through the trees. I talked with some locals and they said that the snow often stays good for a week after a storm and our day was proof of that. On a powder day.....WOW this place would be amazing!!! The area is "Steeped in History" as the host of many historic Canadian and world competitions and as an area that was owned by the community and volunteer run until the 80's. While the new development provides some beautiful accommodations I found my perfect spot at Rafters, the pub at the top of the lodge. Definitely put it on your list for a family vacation or maybe we should arrange a Next Adventure get away for the Portland crew??
