When: 2nd & 4th Sunday of every month.
Where: Meet at the Paddle Sports Center
Winter is coming, so let’s Get Out and Paddle! For all you flatwater, recreational, touring and sea kayakers out there, GOAP: Sea Oregon will be visiting local lakes, bays, larger rivers and coastline twice a month. GOAP: Sea Oregon is an inclusive event that provides opportunities for all skill levels to Get Out and Paddle with our great and diverse paddling community. To add to the fun, Next Adventure has partnered with P&H Custom Sea Kayaks and Venture Kayaks to provide a limited number of FREE Demo kayaks to community members.
This year, we will hosting two paddles a month. The 2nd Sunday of each month will be our Mellow Paddle, for experts and novices alike to explore our larger rivers, lakes and calmer bays throughout our great state, and that state just across the river. The 4th Sunday of each month with be our Step-it-Up Paddle, a paddle to grow and continue exploring areas that require more intermediate skill. The step up challenge could be distance, moving water, wind or some small seas, depending on what the weather brings.
All paddles and locations are dependent on weather and water levels, and we will announce our paddles the Wednesday before on our Facebook Page, our community Events Page, and on several of the Local Listservs. We will meet at the Paddle Sports Center around 8:45am and depart by 9:00am (times may adjust for specific paddles). We will take as many people and boats as our trailer will provide, and encourage carpooling for the rest.
Demo Program: Do not have a boat of your own, or thinking of upgrading? Sign up ahead of time to demo a P&H or Venture Kayak during our adventure! First come, first served, with priority going towards people who have not paddled a particular boat.
Paddlers should paddle within their ability level. If they are in question of whether a trip is appropriate for you, call the shop and talk to a staff member, who can help you make the safest decision. All trips will require cold-weather gear, and some may require more specific safety gear.
Required Gear: Boat, paddle, skirt, Immersion wear, safety gear, a proper fitting PFD, & helmet (will depend on location). The idea is that this is not a guided tour or a class, but an opportunity to paddle with the community.
***These items can be rented from the Paddle Sports Center with 24 hours advance notice.
Excited to SEA you on the water for another awesome "off" season (pun intended)!
