West-Side Wildflowers

Information

Destination: Riverside Trail, Clackamas River

Where we meet: Next Adventure 9:30 AM, return to shop by 5:00 PM

Duration: ~7.5 hours

Experience Necessary: No Previous Experience Neccessary

Equipment Provided: Next Adventure will provide transportation, snacks, and experienced guides that can answer questions about the flora, fauna, geology and local history of the trail.

Wildflowers abound along the well-graded Riverside National Recreation Trail.  From cliff-top views of the Clackamas River, wind through old-growth Doug-fir forests, cross streams on mossy wooden bridges, and dip down to riverside beaches.  Join Next Adventure Staff Biologist Greg Hill for a guided interpretational tour along the Riverside Trail. 

You need to bring:

  • sturdy hiking shoes with synthetic or wool socks
  • hiking apparel (anything but cotton)
  • Day pack
  • water (2 quarts)
  • lunch (& snacks if you have special dietary needs)
  • sun and rain gear
  • your trail essentials  (see below)

Things you may want to bring:

  • trekking poles
  • camera
  • notebook / sketchbook
  • field guide
