T.G.I.F. Friday Happy Hour Guided Tours

Rough week at the office? Come kick the weekend off right with the Scappoose Bay Paddling Center! Enjoy a gentle 2 hour tour with a different focus every week. As we explore the protected wetlands of Scappoose Bay, we’ll take a different spin on the tour each week, including skill building, bird watching, photography, and more! This is a great way to shake off the rust from the week, or just get a taste of everything Scappoose Bay has to offer.

Tour Schedule & Themes

May 6th, 3pm-5pm: Shutterbug Photography Tour

Catered to photographers, we paddle to ideal locations in our bay for unique photo opportunities. We use our most stable kayaks to create ideal shooting conditions with extra room for equipment.

 

May 13th, 3pm-5pm: History Tour

This tour is designed to go explore different areas of Scappoose Bay and share our knowledge about our local history. We will cover topics such as the Columbia River and local waterways, Clackstar Native American tribes, logging and shipyard industry and geographic development.

 

May 27th, 3pm-5pm: Call of the Eagles

This birding tour is focused on everyone’s favorite Scappoose Bay local: The Bald Eagle! Our guides know all the hotspots for the eagles, and whether they’re out or not you’re almost always guaranteed a glimpse of some amazing wildlife, as well as knowledge of the eagles nesting and hunting habits.

 

June 3rd, 3pm-5pm: Up a Creek, with a paddle

Our guides will take you a local favorites on this tour: up the gentle waters of Scappoose Creek. One of the best locations in the bay to spot wildlife, this protected channel takes you into a forested area often ripe with Heron, Beaver, and other local critters.

 

June 10th, 9am-11am: Greet the Morning

It’s hard to beat going for a paddle first thing in the morning, our guides will help you get started the right way with a gentle paddle in the bay.

 

June 24th, 3pm-5pm: What SUP?

Take your paddling to a new vertical level in this beginner friendly Stand Up Paddle Board tour. Whether you’ve been SUPing for years or want to give it a shot for the first time, this relaxed tour will help you learn the basics and explore the bay from a new perspective.

 

July 1st, 3pm-5pm Shutterbug Photography Tour
