80's Night At Ski Bowl

It was a bit of a nail-biter up to the week before the 2nd annual 80's night.  Last year the weather fully cooperated but this year, not so much.  We were able to make due though.  Ski Bowl's cat operators moved a little snow, Bryan loaded the NA crew up in the Sprinter van and voila- 80' Night was on.  In our most awesome collection of 80's gear we rode, delivering schwag to other mountain lovin' men and women who came out to represent the 80's.

The best dressed with the best moves won a $300 gift certificate to Next Adventure.  Second runner up went home with a night ski season pass at Mt. Hood Ski Bowl and third got a night's stay in Collin's Lake Resort.  Not too shabby!

Thanks to everyone who came!  Enjoy the video clip, representing some of Next Adventure's finest.

The New, New Paddle Center

|

Attention Next Adventure Paddle Sport Customers:

The Paddlesports Center has moved again!! Just as we were getting used to our new digs, we have moved to a new location at:

704 SE Washington St. Portland, OR 97214
503-445-9435

This spot is just around the corner from our old location and offers a much larger retail area to display our goods.

We were all teed up to buy the building on Stark St, but found some structural and environmental challenges. Because these issues take time to resolve, it made sense for us to vacate the space while the issues are being handled.

We are now open and ready to serve you at the new space although we may still be hanging product for the first few weeks. So come see our newest store and thanks for your support. Who knows what the future holds with the new building or the old…it’s always an adventure at Next Adventure!

Solo Pow Mission @ timberline! from Joey Moro on Vimeo.

Next Adventure's Joey Moro has been very busy. He did a great job leading NA's Flight Team through the local disc golf circuit last season and kept us up to date with posts on our staff blog.

Joey represents Next Adventure with the kind of energy that inspires people to participate and be active in the outdoor community.

As it turns out, he's pretty good at snowboarding too:)  This is his latest clip, fresh from Timberline.

You can see all of Joey's video clips and photos when you navigate to his profile on our staff bios page.

Luke Spencer in the NYC: Interview on the Today Show

|

Last winter, Next Adventure's Luke Spencer kayaked over 70 ft Outlet Falls in Washington State.  The stunning photo of his decent, taken by Jed Weingarten, quickly circulated throughout the country and across the globe in magazines like Kayak Sessions, Outdoor and even National Geographic.  When NBC's Today show caught wind of Luke's hefty plunge, they tracked him down and invited him out to NYC for an interview.

A:It was about a mile, but I just moved to the North East so now it will be about three miles.

Q:What is your favorite part of bike commuting?

    A:The rain.

Q:How long have you been commuting?

A:On and off for about three years now, but more and more in the past year.

A:A Specialized “Langster”...single speed!

Q:Do you wear a helmet?

A:Yes

Q:Do you have any advice for commuters just starting out?

A:Follow the rules, and tell your friends that drive to treat bikes like cars to keep things consistent.

Q:Do you use any special “gear”?

A:Just light rain pants and jacket, but I really like soft-shell material because of its breathability and windproof qualities.

Q:Are you participating in the Bicycle Transportation Alliances’ bike commuter challenge?

A:Yeah!
