Trip Report: Timberline Trail

--When, Where, Conditions--
When: Thursday and Friday May 28th and 29th
Location: Hiking the Timberline Trail on Mt. Hood
Conditions: Sunny days and warm nights
Duration: About 31 hours
Difficulty: Hard

The Report: I hiked the timberline trail last Thursday and Friday (May 28th and 29th) and let me tell you, it is not easy. The trail is 41 miles all the way around and it took me about 31 hours to finish. It was definitely harder than I thought it was going to be. The trail is well-maintained on the west side of the mountain and seems to be less used on the northside.I was surprised to find quite a bit of snow which made finding the trail a little more difficult. The east side has a lot more exposure to the sun so be sure to reapply your sunscreen. The last stretch back up to timberline lodge felt like walking on the beach uphill. It would be fun to do it again and maybe take more time to enjoy the views.
