Video Gear Review: ON3P Billy Goat Asymetrical Ski

Next Adventure staffer Reuben talks about the ON3P Billy Goat ski, made right here in Portland Oregon.
Hey, I’m Reuben from Next Adventure and we’re here today talking about the ON3P Billy Goat Asym. ON3P Skis are handmade here in Portland, Oregon. The business started when a group of skiers was dissatisfied with the skis on the market and started to make their own out of the owners’ garage in Tacoma, Washington. Today, they make some of the best quality skis on the market. We’re talking about ON3P’s latest innovation which is featured on the Billy Goat, and that is an asymmetrical side-cut. When you hold the skis together you’ll notice that the side-cut is not completely the same. The result of this is that there are a left and a right ski. Because the asymmetry on the ski begins after the contact point it won’t affect the way that the ski carves on groomed runs, however, it will give the ski a much surfier feel in powder when you’re riding terrain like Upper Heather Canyon. With a 116mm underfoot, 140mm width in the tip, and a 125mm width in the tail the Billy Goat is a big mountain/powder ski. This is a ski for charging down big runs at high speed. The ski has a lot of tip rocker as well as a fair amount of tail rocker, with not very much camber underfoot. This makes the ski an awesome, high performance, fast ski for charging down big runs. This is a fairly stiff ski, it’s built with a lightweight and sustainable bamboo core which also gives it a fair amount of pop. It’s also built with a layer of carbon stringer, triaxle fiberglass, and dampening rubber. Like all ON3P skis, it has a Durasurf 4001 base which is a high-density plastic. As well as a 2.5mm x 2.5mm wide edge. These edges are thicker than almost any other ski on the wall, meaning they can be tuned more times. That’s the Billy Goat Asym from ON3P. Check it out in-store or online at nextadventure.net. I’ll see you on the slopes.
