Smith Rock

The Report: We left Portland convoy style, with Vanna White playing the role of proverbial vanguard on Friday around noon. By 16:30 tents were up at Skull Hollow Campground and we were entering the Park. We stayed near the entrance in the boulder field until just before sunset when we went back and got our fire going. Shootdang the High Desert gets cold at night. In any case, we were on the rocks at the Dihedrals by 7:30 and had a wonderful day.

It was my first time climbing outdoors and I got sufficiently hooked. Not only on the sport, but on the rad culture surrounding it. By the end of the day, and through extensive coaching from my compatriots Brooke and Mason, I was able to comfortably send what I could no way consider doing at the beginning. It was a great experience.

We spent the night again at Skull Hollow, this time I slept in Vanna, and I left early to get to Next for my 11:00 shift.
