DRILLS AND SKILLS FOR WHITEWATER FITNESS AND RACING
Looking to up your fitness for better paddling or in preparation for racing season? Develop a training regimen and improve your paddling technique with our Drills and Skills for Whitewater Fitness and Racing Clinic. This full day clinic will revisit some of our fundamental strokes and movements, with special attention on refining technique and learning how to expand your toolkit for the days. With a mix of on land and on water sessions, you will walk away with some feedback of your paddling, and tools to incorporate into an everyday paddling plan.
While open to paddlers of all abilities, we recommend participation in some formal lesson or class so you have some familiarity with the various strokes and techniques we will be addressing. To create the best learning environment (and training ground for fundamental skills), we will be using a local flatwater location as our teaching venue, dependent on the flows. Typical venues include Sellwood Riverfront Park, Clackamette Cove, or Scappoose Bay. We’ll select the most appropriate venue in conjunction with weather conditions.
Personal Paddling Equipment is strongly recommended. If you would like to try a different boat or paddle, there is limited rental and demo equipment available.
