Transitioning from alpine skiing to the backcountry can be a rewarding but daunting endeavor. To help with the gear learning curve, Next Adventure is hosting an evening with SCARPA and G3 to delve into the equipment required to transition from inbounds skiing and into the backcountry.
Topics to be covered*:
• Different boot options available
• Choosing the proper skins
• Traditional alpine skis VS backcountry skis
• Basic safety tools required
All participants will go home with a free G3 ski strap, a key piece to your backcountry gear kit.
There will also be a silent auction benefiting The Mt. Hood Institute. It’s a great chance to bid on some sweet outdoor gear from brands like G3, MSR, Osprey and Therm-A-Rest.
Event is free and refreshments will be provided by our friends at Base Camp Brewing Company
Doors open: 7:15
Presentation starts: 7:30
*This event will be largely focused on the gear required and not around avalanche and snow condition awareness. Check with your local avalanche center to find out more information on avalanche safety.
