Summer boating is upon us, so throw off your Wednesday responsibilities and come boating with your pals at Next Adventure! For everyone that is unfamiliar with the Carnage and Confidence Runs it is a community event hosted by Next Adventure on the Upper Clackamas River. The Carnage run goes from Fish Creek to Bob's Hole and a fun class 3 to 3+ depending on the flow, while the confidence run is from Bob's Hole to Memaloose and is a sweet class 2+ run. The Confidence Run is great for new paddlers, providing plenty of action.
We will be meeting at Next Adventure Paddle Sports Center at 3:00pm and leaving the shop promptly at 3:30. If you don't get off work in time just meet us at Toilet Bowl around 4:30. The first 9 people to arrive at the shop will receive a free ride to the river and some delicious river soda after the run, and the people that arrive a little later have always been able to car pool and meet some new paddling friends.
This is not a guided trip, this is not a class. It's a paddle hosted by Next for the love of paddling. All paddlers should paddle within their ability level, and while we as a community look out for each other while we are on the river, each person is responsible for personal safety. If you are questioning your abilities please give us a call at the shop and we can help you make the appropriate decision as to whether or not you are ready for this run.
Not only will you have a nice crew to boat with, but you also have the opportunity to demo some sweet kayaks from Dagger, Pyranha, and Liquid Logic. If you arrive early to fill out paperwork, and have all of your other boating gear (Helmet, Paddle, PFD, Thermal Protection), we'll set you up for a test ride of your next boat.
To go on this trip you will also need all of the proper gear including Helmet, PFD, and Thermal Protection. The river is cold year-round, so please dress accordingly.
*Note: Please fill out all paperwork for demo's either the night before, or come at 2:30 to take care of it. We cannot transport a boat for you to the river (liability), but we want to make sure you demo the boats of your dreams. Also, there is a difference between recreational kayaks and whitewater kayaks. If you have questions, please reach out!*
See you on the river,
The Next Adventure Paddle Sports Team!
