2016 Deviation Skis - Next Adventure

2016 Deviation Skis

Deviation Ski & Snowboard Works designs and builds handmade skis & snowboards in the land we call home: Portland, OR. Deviation takes a great amount of pride within their craft for good reason; each ski and snowboard is constructed to the specific rider's style by hand from sustainable resources. Their skis are designed to give the rider "confidence in all conditions."

Deviation Marketing Manager and Ski Czar Matt Hilbert walked us through their 2015/2016 line at SIA and highlighted their newest feature: their improved core construction. All of Deviation's skis & snowboards use what they call Progressive Flex 2.0 which has ash down the center of the core, purple heart on the outside, and a poplar stringer between the layers. The most unique feature of this core material resonates with Deviation's construction technique: they shape the sidewall from the purple heart. This method provides more dense wood in the tips and tails (since there is more purple heart) while keeping the ski poppy underfoot. The result is a ski that is responsive, aggressive, and predictable. Check the video below for a comprehensive explanation of their core and shaping techniques.

The new graphics are beautiful across the entire lineup of both skis and snowboards. Deviation has replicated the graphics from their topsheets onto their bases while also keeping them transparent to view the superior craftsmanship that has gone into every ski.
