Gear Review: All New Wilderness Systems Carbon Pungo Kayak Paddle

Value Rating: 10 Durability Rating: 9 Overall Rating: 10 Location of Test: Wilamette River Duration of Test: 3 days Product Name: Pungo Carbon Kayak Paddle Product Brand: Wilderness Systems Best Use: Flatwater kayaking Pungo Carbon Paddle Pre-release review of the all-new Wilderness Systems Carbon Pungo Paddle! The Full Review: The Carbon Pungo paddle from Wilderness Systems has got to be the best low angle paddle I’ve ever used. First off, it’s just so light. This really makes a difference after being out on the water for a couple of hours. I felt like I could paddle all day with this paddle. Secondly, I could feel that I was getting a really solid purchase out of each stoke, meaning the blade was not flexing at all in the water, as plastic and some fiberglass paddles do. For me, this means that I’m not wasting any energy while I’m out on the water. Pungo Carbon Paddle Another cool feature about this paddle is the adjustable length and offset. It can go from 220cm-240cm. This is a great feature and it means that this one paddle can be used by just about anyone. It also means that the paddler can change the length and offset during their time on the water depending on their skill or level of fatigue at the moment. This paddle was designed specifically for the Pungo kayak but can be used in a variety of different kayaks. If you’ve never used a carbon paddle you will for sure tell the difference right away. Pungo Carbon Paddle The Good: -Super light! -Easy to adjust -Great shape for calm water kayaking -Less wear and tear on your body! The Bottom Line: All in all this paddle is going to be the best on your body and feel the nicest paddling. It also is super easy to adjust and is one of the lightest paddles on the market. If you think you are going to be spending a decent amount of time on the water, this paddle is well worth the investment.
