Video Gear Review: Venture Kayaks Islay 12

Jamie from Venture Kayaks gave us a tour of the Islay 12 kayak at our Summer Splash 2017 event. This boat offers many of the features of a touring kayak in a compact package.
Hi, my name is Jamie. I work for P&H, Venture and Pyranha Kayaks. This is the Venture Islay 12 LV. This is a great intermediate kayak. It’s very stable and has exceptional primary and secondary stability. It's a 12-foot boat that paddles with the speed of a 14-foot craft, so it's great for this area where we have clean rivers and lakes. The Islay 12 LV kayak is totally seaworthy, it uses the same deck hatches that come on all our high-end Sea Kayaks. The P&H composite boats have the exact same hatch, same ropes same fitting, as well as the same foot braces. They have a very ergonomic seat that is easy to adjust. Simply unlock the rope from the cleat and pull forward or backward to adjust the backrest. It also has a dropdown skeg. Lower the skeg any time you're having trouble tracking. Again, very easy and basic adjustments with few moving parts to maintain. This is a multiple hatch boat with lots of storage space in the front and the back of the kayak. It’s also safe because it has multiple bulkheads to keep the boat afloat if you take an unscheduled swim. These hatched bulkheads are going to remain dry, all you have to do is bail out the middle of the boat and get back in. The Venture 12 LV is one of our best sellers this year. Come down and try it out.
