Hi-Vis Folding Map Compass

A mirror-sighting compass in a color you will actually find again if you set it down. The folding lid carries a sighting mirror, which is what lets you take a genuinely accurate bearing on a distant feature while reading the dial at the same time. That is the difference between navigating and guessing.

Liquid filled so the needle settles instead of hunting, a swivel bezel for working off a map, and inch, metric and 1:25,000 scales printed on a 5 mm baseplate stout enough to lean on. Good for a first orienteering course and good enough to keep carrying afterward.
