TRIP REPORT: Mushroom and Salmon Hike

Snow is falling on the mountain, and the winter season has begun! But there is still time to reflect back on a great hiking season. Next Adventure Outdoor School led its final day hike for Fall 2013 to the Clackamas River Trail the last weekend of October. Mushrooms were popping out all over the place, including Amanitas, false morels, and Boletes. We took our time meandering along the trail, stopping to check out just about every mushroom we came across. We even found some chanterelles, pixie-cup lichens, saw lots of golden fall color, and a few spawned-out salmon by the river’s edge. We’ll have more day hikes and backpacking trips once the spring rolls around again, but we can customize a private tour for your group any month of the year! Next Adventure’s Outdoor School has Snowshoe and Cross-country Ski day trips scheduled all winter long. We’ll drive you to the mountain, teach you a new outdoor skill, and take you for a tour through Mt. Hood’s winter wonderland. Join us Friday, November 22 for our first trip of the season on Mt.
