Full Review: A good headlamp is an important piece of gear for any outdoor enthusiast. Night hikes, cooking late, scouring the map for the trail you missed. As a kayaker I also like having one for those times where we're on the river or reaching the takeout at dark. Nothing can be more disheartening than trying to get your bearings without light.

With those situations in mind I like to pick a headlamp that is going to be bright, easy to pack, and most of all durable. The Moxie and the other headlamps from black Diamond fit all those criteria to varying degrees.

I've gotten this headlamp fully soaked. I believe I drained water out of it. It still functioned after a quick dry out. More importantly it functioned while wet. (that may not always be the case, so don't try to fully immerse this lamp). I've dropped it, squashed it, and used it as a forehead protector on many occasions and it's still running strong. Its light is bright and it's the first lamp I reach for once dusk sets in. This lamp's got a lot of Moxie for the price.

The Good List: Durable with 2 lighting options.

The Not so Good List: Not as bright as some of its counterparts, and there's no red light option

The Bottom Line: a great, durable, and low priced lighting option.
