Disc Golf in Las Vegas
This past weekend the Next Adventure disc department (Erin Reichel & myself ) took a jet plane down to the city that never sleeps to compete in the Las Vegas Halloween Classic. A three day B-tier tournament chalk full of sunshine, palm trees, wide open fairways, and fast greens. Throw all that together in one the entertainment capitals of the world and you got yourself a vacation.
The tournament format was unique. We played one round each day for three days on a 22 hole par 70 course. There was 177 total players registered. Instead of a shot gun start where everyone starts at the same time, each division had tee times. This was nice considering we didn't have to play till noon which gave us plenty of time to warm up and work off any remaining hangovers.
I have to tip my hat to the hard working TD's and Las Vegas disc golf club who come together to make this event happen. Everyone we met was super helpful and welcoming. We even spotted a few Portland folks who made the trek. It's always nice to see some familiar faces.
After the first round i was in prime shape, only 2 strokes off the lead! unfortunately that was as close as i was going to get .

Erin came out strong and improved on each round until she safely cruised past her competitors with a 7 stroke victory!

We came, we saw, we conquered. We disced, we gambled, we danced, and we had a really good time!
What more could you ask for? This was the perfect way to end the 2013 season. It's been a great year of throwing Frisbee's and I'm grateful for all the friends I've made along the way. It's been amazing to watch the game grow and evolve, and I am already excited to see where it will take me next year. Until then Keep On Hukkin!
