Free Presentations at Next Adventure - Spring 2015
Next Adventure was proud to host Oregon author William Sullivan for a slideshow presentation and talk this past week.
A good crowd gathered after hours at the Grand Avenue store to hear about new hikes in eastern Oregon.
William Sullivan is best known for his hiking guidebooks for the State of Oregon and southwest Washington. Instead of trying to cover the whole state in one tome, he explores each region of the state in separate volumes. It is amazing how much detail he can include about the trails, nature, geology and history, yet still have a volume portable enough to toss into your pack.
Bill has spent the past year or so revisiting and researching destinations for his updated edition of "100 Hikes in Eastern Oregon". Those attending his presentation last Friday got to hear about all the new trails he has discovered.
There was a book-signing after the event, and the author stuck around to answer more questions.
Next Adventure looks forward to having William Sullivan back again next year.
Speaking of authors returning to Next Adventure, local Portland author Lisa Holmes will be back this Thursday, April 23rd to talk about how her book "I Heart Oregon (& Washington): 25 of the Portland Area's Best Hikes" got written, and some advice on good Spring hiking destinations.
There will be a Northwest nature presentation on Tuesday, April 28. Learn about the Spring wildflowers you see along the trail with Next Adventure lead guide and naturalist, Greg Hill.
Get ready to navigate with our next 2nd Tuesday Outdoor Skills clinic in May. Dust off your compass for a refresher course or come learn for the first time about the basics of Map and Compass on May 12.
