The Full Review:
The Carbon Pungo paddle from Wilderness Systems has got to be the best low angle paddle I’ve ever used. First off, it’s just so light. This really makes a difference after being out on the water for a couple of hours. I felt like I could paddle all day with this paddle. Secondly, I could feel that I was getting a really solid purchase out of each stoke, meaning the blade was not flexing at all in the water, as plastic and some fiberglass paddles do. For me, this means that I’m not wasting any energy while I’m out on the water.
Another cool feature about this paddle is the adjustable length and offset. It can go from 220cm-240cm. This is a great feature and it means that this one paddle can be used by just about anyone. It also means that the paddler can change the length and offset during their time on the water depending on their skill or level of fatigue at the moment. This paddle was designed specifically for the Pungo kayak but can be used in a variety of different kayaks. If you’ve never used a carbon paddle you will for sure tell the difference right away.
