The Full Review:
This knife sat on the bottom shelf in the camping department at Next Adventure, hiding from me. When I picked it up for the first time I was quite impressed with the weight for such a little knife. It fits comfortably in hand in standard knife holding mode or in finger jib position (more on that later). The blade is wicked sharp and performs exactly how you’d expect sharp pointy metal to perform. Overall fantastic every day carry.
Opening Mechanism: This blade opens very smoothly with the Spyderco-esque thumbhole. No wobble in the handle to blade connections.
Handle: This is where the blade shines the most. The handle is interesting as it is comfortable to hold in hand in the standard way most people hold knives. Its small and I would say my hands are a little larger than average, but it still fits perfectly. It also has an alternative holding mode, so to speak, that allows you to put your index finger into a section of the steel that was cut out for your finger "jib spot". This allows you to ride up close to the blade for more control when you’re trying to be cool and cut apple slices off your fruit instead of eating it like a savage. Or if you’re cutting carrots and onions for a stew or something.
Clip: It has 1 alternative clip section if you prefer to carry tip up. Not on the reverse side though.
Lock: This knife utilizes a frame lock.
Design: This is a beautiful blade. Sleek, classy, minimalist, functional. I get curious looks when I pull this blade out and I’m not at work. People have asked me what knife this is countless times, definitely envious. It’s got a satin silver finish and I must say that it is flawless.
Blade: The blade is 8Cr13MoV steel which means that it’s a well-balanced all-around steel. It will stay sharp for a bit and then will require sharpening after heavy use. It has solid corrosion resistance and the thickness of the blade adds to its durability for when you inevitably use your knife in a way that it wasn't intended for #dontdothat
Cost: This blade is inexpensive. I’m never worried about breaking it or people stealing it. My only worry is that if that does happen and lots of people read this review, then we will run out of stock of this blade.
CRKT did a fantastic job in designing this knife.
The Good
Well built, inexpensive, performs better than you'd expect.
The Bad:
The blade is short. This has only been a problem when cutting boxes and sometimes getting the finger jib part of the steel stuck on the cardboard. I'm sure it is user error and not a fault of the knife, I just lack skill in cutting boxes.
The Bottom Line:
This knife should be more expensive than it is. Everybody should own this fantastic utility knife.
