Gear Review: Hydrus Crossboard - Next Adventure

Gear Review: Hydrus Crossboard

Value Rating: 8 Durability Rating: 10 Overall Rating: 9 Location of Test: The rough streets of inner SE Duration: Months Product Name: Crossboard Product Brand: Hydrus Best Use: Cross training for Stand Up Paddle Boarding Sizes Available/ Specs: There are two: a big one and a little one, they have huge wheels with unique hardness characteristics, and wide reverse trucks and a super wide deck. Hydrus Cross Board The Full Review: The cross boards are super fun for carving and pumping around in flatter areas. Hills are possible but its not a downhill board by design- more of a cruiser. The larger of the 2 boards has cut outs for the front wheels to prevent wheel bite, and both have holes cut out near the rails for easy grabbing and carrying. The smaller board is fun with or without a paddle stick, but the larger is definitely more fun with one. These are great for foot coordination and core workout when you cant get out on the water. The Good: Super forgiving wheels, really playful trucks that provide positive feedback to allow for energetic pumping, even up a slight incline! Cross stepping is super fun on these, and they roll super nice. The Bad: The deck is a little wide for my taste but I see why. It would be cool maybe to not have quite as much leverage as sometimes when cranking a turn the wheels leave the ground on the opposite side of the pressure. Hydrus Cross Board The Bottom Line: These boards are super fun and innovative, much carvier than some of their predecessors from other brands.
