Gear Review: K2 Coolers - Summit Series

Value Rating: 8 Durability Rating: 10 Overall Rating: 8 Location of Test: Truck, boat, and at home Duration: 2 months Product Name: Summit Series Product Brand: K2 Coolers Best Use: Keeping stuff COLD Sizes Available/ Specs: Sizes ranging from 20-120 quarts
The Full Review Camping and fishing season brought need to a new cooler having left all my old worn out Colemans when I moved to Portland. After some internal battling I finally broke down and decided to get a Rotomolded cooler and landed on the K2 Summit. At 20% less expensive than some of the bigger more well known brands the price was a hard thing to not ignore. Add in that the Louisiana based company claims to ensure proper insulation by weighing each cooler and it seemed too good to be true. I am happy to tell you that is not the case at all however and that this is by far the finest cooler I have ever owned. A full length stainless hinge, easy to replace rubber latches, built in lock brackets, and amazing nonskid feet make this cooler great for boating, truck beds, or even use for parties and home. I even used mine to keep all the food from my freezer frozen for 3 days while defrosting/cleaning- frozen solid was the results even in my hot garage K2 Coolers The Good: Does exactly as it is supposed to- keeps things cold (or frozen even). Cost is lower than comparable coolers. Ability to add dividers and baskets within to organize your food. Hose Thread drain plug make draining cooler super easy and clean. The Bad: It is HEAVY. Not any heavier than comparable coolers but this style cooler is certifiably not meant to be hiked into places. The Bottom Line: I am very happy with my purchase and will be adding several of the smaller sizes very soon.
