The Full Review:
This sleeping bag is one of my favorite purchases ever. The Nemo spoon-shape is a side sleepers (literal) dream. I am able to curl up in the bag with the perfect amount of space for my knees and feet. I can also sit up cross-legged in this bag which is excellent for hanging out in the tent while staying warm! Nemo manages to make a sleeping bag that offers more room for side sleepers while still not being too bulky - it fits well on my relatively narrow sleeping pad and packs down small enough for backpacking trips.
In terms of warmth, it is pretty true to the 15-degree rating (survival rating being 15 degrees and comfort rating around 25). I only had one night where I felt cold when it was close to 25 degrees Fahrenheit outside. The shape of the bag leads to some heat loss due to the extra space.
This sleeping bag has a lot of features that I love, including the pillow pocket. The pocket holds your pillow in place throughout the night and makes for a much more comfortable sleep. No more waking up with a sore neck in the morning.
There is also a small storage pocket on the outside of the bag that works well for storing a small item like a flashlight that you will want to access in the middle of the night.
My very favorite part of the Rhumba 15 is the blanket extension. With every other sleeping bag I have had, the coldest part is always right around my neck and face and I find myself holding the bag together around my face to keep in warmth. With this blanket extension I tuck it in around my face and it really helps not lose heat through that part of the bag.
The Good:
Awesome spoon shape and super cozy integrated blanket!
The Bad:
May lose some heat through the extra space on the sides. Those who are fine with a mummy shaped bag may find the Rhumba to be a little on the heavy side for backpacking.
The Bottom Line:
The perfect sleeping bag for side sleepers.
