Gear Review: Sherpa Adventure Gear Khumbu Pants - Next Adventure

Gear Review: Sherpa Adventure Gear Khumbu Pants

Value Rating: 8 Durability Rating: 9 Overall Rating: 8 Location of Test: Biking to work, Smith Rock climbing Duration of Test: 1+ year Product Name: Khumbu Pants Product Brand: Sherpa Adventure Gear Best Use: Rock climbing, hiking Sizes: S-XL Stretchy Nylon Supplex material Khumbu Pants Me, utilizing the stretchiness of the Khumbu Pants at Smith Rock. The Full Review: I picked up the Khumbu as a hiking pant a little over a year ago, and I found that they became a daily wear for me. I primarily wear them when biking to and from work because even if they get soaked (which they will because they're only DWR treated), they dry super quickly, and I can wear a dry pair of pants home. However, the main reason I really love these pants is their simplicity. The fit is rather slim, though the gusseted crotch makes movement easy. The four zippered pockets (two on the front, one rear, and one leg) makes these pants ideal for our outdoor adventures. The lower leg pocket is large enough for an iPhone and can be easily accessed even while wearing a harness. The pants fit comfortably under a harness and the stretch is even excessive for climbing - it feels as though you're wearing no pants at all! On cold days, I pair the Khumbu with a thin long underwear because they have virtually no insular properties except for a decent windbreak. These pants are truly ideal for fall/spring climbing and hiking, and you can't beat those closeout prices. The Good Super stretchy, comfortable, nice fit, great simplistic design The Bad: No built-in belt The Bottom Line: A great hiking and climbing pant that has a nice DWR coating
