Gear Review: Sierra Designs Light Year 1 Person Tent

Value Rating: 9 Durability Rating: 10 Overall Rating: 10 Location of Test: Paddle Oregon trip Duration of Test: Still using Product Name: Light Year 1 Person Tent Product Brand: Sierra Designs Best Use: The great outdoors! Or indoors if your roommates don't mind Sierra Designs Light Year Tent The Full Review: This tent has a simple design and it is SUPER easy to set up. I've got the process down now and takes me about 5 minutes. Took me 10 minutes my first try, (I had not set up a tent in years previous to this, so literally anyone can do it!) I was a bit worried about it being non-free standing, but there have been no issues whatsoever. Just double check that you DO have all of the tent stakes. I managed to lose 2, but the tent still worked flawlessly without them. There is color coding too, to help line everything up, which I found to be very helpful. Usually, I keep the vestibule open for ventilation, or you can create an awning. The floor is waterproof, but you should get a footprint to help protect it even more. I really dig the all-mesh canopy. It keeps the tent lightweight, great for backpacking and kayak camping. Sierra Designs Light Year Tent Sierra Designs Light Year Tent The Good: Light, easy setup, cost-efficient, Like the Tardis- it's smaller on the outside, but bigger on the inside. The Bad: Pick up some extra tent stakes to tie all of the fly supports, it only comes with 10. The Bottom Line: I REALLY enjoy this tent, and highly recommend!
