Full Review: The brand spankin' new Smith I/O7 goggle has been 7 years in the making and might just be the best yet...
Whether you credit its rimless interchangeable ancestry or its current application of facial geometry frame design, the I/O7 is certainly one of the best goggles on the market today. Its single pivot quick release lens allows for a fast switch on the fly lens swap in even the gnarliest of conditions. It's also a brilliant design in that once the lens is clicked in and seated, it stays put.
I had the pleasure of product testing the I/O7 in variety of conditions last winter. One of the first things I noticed in putting them on was the enhanced peripheral vision as compared to my old I/OS model. Comfort was a close second.
The ultra-wide silicone backed strap is perfectly comfortable and It's 3 layer Dri-Wix face foam is pretty deluxe too. A silicone sealed vaporator lens with porex filter helps prevent delamination and fogging up. The I/O7 also marks the debut of air evac Integration technology which is essentially an effective ventilation system that draws warm air out. Each pair includes two mirrored spherical lenses.
Bonus: The dual access outriggers allow you to comfortably wear the goggle on your helmet without threatening to snap you in the eyeballs. The I/O7's are also designed to fit perfectly with the Smith Camber helmet.
"The Good" List: peace of mind... no fog, no wind, no problem...
"The Not so Good List": a little pricey, but worth it...
The Bottom Line: A versatile everyday charger!
