The Full Review:
Many people have a hard time justifying spending more than a few dollars on a good pair of socks. The Next Adventure sock wall is full of some awesome $10 socks, so it takes a bit of knowledge to justify spending the $21.99 on a pair of Sockwell Plantar Ease socks.
The easiest way to figure out why these socks rock is to just try them on. The first time I put one on, I loudly exclaimed, "it's like having an arch support in your sock!" The gentle yet firm compression in the arch and lower ankle cuff of the sock provides the most wonderful feeling of support.
I left with two pairs and started wearing them all the time. I noticed that after working a long day in them, my feet felt significantly less sore at the end of the day. The strong and lightweight weave makes them a wonderful sock to hike in--they don't take up too much space in boots but they breathe well and keep your blood flowing.
Many people are familiar with the benefits of a compression sock--they keep blood flowing and are great for plane rides, pregnant women, and people who spend much of their day immobile. However, the comfort benefits of compression socks certainly expand beyond just those categories. Sockwell, which was founded by the same folks who started Smartwool, took that concept of medically beneficial compression socks and made awesome socks out of merino wool and bamboo fibers, among other materials. The result is a handsome, comfortable, durable pair of socks.
The Good
Incredibly comfortable, dryer-friendly, light, relatively good odor control, super durable
The Bad:
They can be tricky to get on and they're expensive
The Bottom Line:
Go get some Sockwells and feel the difference!
