The Full Review:
After a couple of stormy days doing some backcountry skiing last season with my 10$ pair of goggles, I decided that I needed to invest in a better pair. What I hated the most about my cheap goggles was the lack of contrast which meant I could not see the lip of a drop or spot my landing well. So, I decided to go over to Next Adventure and find myself a killer set. I tried quite a few on and landed on the "Spy Doom Snow Goggles". The first thing I noticed was that it had a bright red rim and a shiny looking lens. The next thing that sold me on them was how freaking comfortable they were when I put them on! It has a nice soft and smooth fit with no gaps or pressure points. I also felt like I was seeing HD and had great peripheral vision.
From the store, I headed to the mountain the next day to try them out. And of course, the conditions out there were crap! We had a mixture of rain and snow falling on us all day, it’s as if we were skiing in a cloud! But these were perfect conditions to test the limits of the Dooms visibility. They did not disappoint. It really did feel like HD vision out there. I was able to see all the exposed rocks and logs with ease as well as the dips and rises in the snow which is usually the difficult thing to see. Also, when it was raining.... it seemed to drip right off! The one other thing that stands this pair of goggles apart is the quick snap button to change the lenses with ease. The low light lens was killer and I’m sure I’ll use it a lot in the PNW but I can wait to bring out the other lens out on a bluebird day!
The Good:
Killer Price
So comfy!
Great contrast
2 lenses
Best lens change system on the market
easily adjustable
Fits over helmet no prob!
The Bottom Line:
The bottom line is I'll probably never buy another pair of goggles for a while. I'll use these on the resort, in the backcountry, and on my mountaineering trip. Goggles are one place where I've found it truly worth it to treat yourself. The Spy Doom Snow Goggle is a great option and the 2 lenses they come with will take care of all your needs. Check em out!
