Hiking the Oregon Coast Trail
Stroll along the sandy beach, check out the sea life in tidepools, climb rocky headlands up through ancient Sitka spruce forests, and take in the expansive cliff-top views of the Pacific Ocean.
The Oregon Coast Trail, which hugs Oregon's western fringe from the Columbia River to California, was recently featured in Backpacker Magazine. Next Adventure was listed as the place to get geared up in Portland. Oh, yeah!
Now and then I take a break from running the ridges of the high Cascades and roll down to the coast to explore sections of the Oregon Coast Trail. Last year Andrew and I backpacked through Ecola State Park, following the footsteps of Lewis & Clark, and taking in the views of Terrible Tilly out at sea.
More recently, I guided a Road Scholar Program where we hiked different sections of the OCT. Here are a few pictures to get a flavor of what you can find on the Oregon Coast.
