Preparing for my upcoming climbing trip in Yosemite at El Capitan - Next Adventure

Preparing for my upcoming climbing trip in Yosemite at El Capitan

Getting ready for the solo aid climb of Zodiac is shaping up to be challenging. I got the portaledge that I borrowed from one of my climbing buddies. So, the smart thing would be to set it up before I am 2000 feet in the air. I took my daughter and the dog to the park to hang the ledge in a tree so I could get used to it and make sure that it works properly. It was a successful deployment. I got my daughter Emily to get in and try it. She thought it was cool until I asked her how cool it would be 2000 feet in the air. I wish I had a picture of her face. The look of horror was priceless.

I took my son out to Beacon Rock on Saturday Sept 14th and he cruised Young Warriors. He climbed it like a young warrior should. Bold with determination and grit. Made this Dad real proud.

I have so many details to get ready for this epic climb in Yosemite. I have planned to be on the wall 8 days even though I would like to do it faster. I have help getting my gear down El Capitan. After the climb, I will reverse the descent by climbing up it once and stashing 4 liters of water on top so that I will have some on the way down. All the details are coming together. My excitement is raising and is out-distancing the anxiety. I got some climbing in this morning at Beacon Rock with one of my climbing partners and I got chased off by the rain. We were trying to get both pitches of Blown Out and now we will have to go back later to get the second pitch. It will have to wait until I get back from solo aiding Zodiac.

I leave Saturday morning after going to Reel Rock 8. So if you want to see me before I leave I will be at Reel Rock 8 on Thursday, September 19th, and Friday, Sept 20th. Why is patience a virtue? Because not many people have it. - Plaidman https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/images/cleardot.gif
