The Chick Flick Women's Global Event

May 12, 2012 was a day to mark in the history books of Women's Disc Golf. To follow in the footsteps of last year's Global Tournament, the PDGA and PDGA Women's Committee hosted the inaugural Women's Global Event. Women from all over the world took part in this groundbreaking event! The Women’s Global Event tournament director Oregon’s own and President of the PDGA board of directors Rebecca Duffy along with co TD professional disc golfer Valarie Jenkins worked tirelessly to make this event the success that it was.

There were 636 ladies who took part at 41 events throughout the United States, and the world. This event was ratings based. Every player played two rounds at their local events with each round being on the same course with the same layout for each round. Those rounds were rated against the other players playing at their local events. Those two rounds were rated to calculate the player’s global score. The players with the highest combined scores for the two rounds in each division were crowned as winners. The Pros were playing for cash, and the amateurs were playing for prizes.

There were three Oregon events in Sisters, Eugene, and the Chick Flick Global Event, which took place at Horning’s Hideout in North Plains Oregon. The team who has brought you the Chick Flick Celebration for the past two years Next Adventure Flight Team members Cindy McMahan & Celeste Scandiffio once again teamed up to organizes The Chick Flick Women’s Global Event. We played two rounds at Horning’s Hideout on the canyon course. Our event was the largest of all the Global Events with 63 ladies competing.

The day started out with the ladies receiving their players packs which included a disc donated by Innova with the Women’s Global Event stamp, a second disc donated by Discraft, a visor donated by the PDGA with Women’s Global Event logo, a towel donated by Women Throwing Frisbees, a Chick Flick sticker donated by the Chick Flick, a sticker from Women4DiscGolf.com donated by Valerie Jenkins, and a bag also with the Women’s Global Event logo donated by Paragon Disc Golf. Also at our local event was an acepot of $100 gift certificate donated by Next Adventure who is the title sponsor of the Chick Flick Celebration that will take place August 4^th & 5^th also at Horning’s Hideout.

Cindy McMahan placed 1^st in advanced masters in a field of 47
Sally West placed 2^nd in advanced women in a field of 102
Tanya Spence placed 2^nd in intermediate women in a field of 122
Sky Wilbershied placed 3^rd in the junior 16 and under division

Many of the other ladies that took part in the Chick Flick Women’s Global Event placed high as well, and cashed.
