The Thru-hikers are coming! - Next Adventure

The Thru-hikers are coming!

The Pacific Crest Trail thru-hikers are coming through Oregon!
We saw them hiking through the Olallie Lakes segment this past week see the Olallie Trip Report blog>, and you can expect to see more thru-hikers at the PCT Days event in Cascade Locks next weekend, Friday - Sunday, September 5-7, 2014.

Next Adventure will be present at the Pacific Crest Trail Days event once again this year. You can join us for free camping on Thunder Island in the Columbia River. Mingle with long-distance hikers fresh from the trail. Browse the vendor booths to learn about the latest and greatest in ultra-light gear. Attend seminars and free presentations about hiking light and fast. Win great prizes and support the
longest trail in the world.

Don't forget to stop by the Next Adventure booth out on Thunder Island to get stoked out on how to make your trail experience more enjoyable. Whether you are planning to hike the PCT or have more modest hiking goals, we've got the resources to inform, outfit and excite you about your next outdoor adventure!

Next Adventure has been supporting this awesome event for years. Here are some links to blogs and photos about thru-hikers, the PCT and past years' PCT Days:

Backpacker Magazine posted a great video that gives you a three minute view of the entire PCT (just look in the background behind the selfies to see the many conditions experienced on the trail).
Check it out here.

To really get a feel for hiking the PCT (at least how it was 20 years ago), watch for the PCT-themed movie Wild coming soon to theaters. Based on local author Cheryl Strayed's book of the same name, it stars Reese Witherspoon and was filmed locally in Oregon and Cascade Locks.

Watch the trailer for Wild here.
