Trip Report: California Disc Golf - Next Adventure

Trip Report: California Disc Golf

--When, Where, Conditions--
When: April 29th May 6th
Location: Santa Cruz - Delaveaga d=Disc Golf course/ Woodland creek Washington
Conditions: Santa Cruz was 75-80 degrees everyday. Wind wasn't too much of a factor but one day we had some coastal mist. The conditions in Washington were also great. Almost 80 degrees the first day of the tournament and the sunday day a bit muggy.
Duration: My sister and I took a week to drive the 101 through the redwoods and then to Santa Cruz for a four day tournament.. As soon as I got back I headed straight to Tacoma Washington to play a two day tournament.

The Report: My first trip was accompanied by my wonderful sister. We drove from Portland Oregon down the 101 South heading to the Avenue of The Giants in the Redwoods. The image of my camping gear is by far my best car camping setup for one to two people. Also all the items you can find at Next Adventure!

Mountain Hardwear

I use the Drifter 2 by Mountain Hardwear. It's an easy two pole set up! When I'm not worried about weight, I use my Wilderness Technology sleeping pad accompanied by the inflatable pillow. My sister used my Q-Core sleeping pad from Big Agnes. For a sleeping bag I use the Roxy Ann also from Big Agnes; it's just the right temp rating for cooler summer nights if you run cold like I do. We brought our Innova Discatcher Traveler basket for putt practice everywhere we traveled.

After the Redwoods we hit Santa Cruz for the Steady Ed Memorial tournament. This event is a three day tournament run by DGA. After three long rounds on a course I have never played I came back to town with second place trophy and lots of memories. I could go on for days but lets just say we had a blast!

Disc Golf

Once I made it back to town it was straight to Tacoma Seattle for me. The tournament I was attending is called Woodland Creek Classic, a two day event on a temporary course at a local park. A couple of the holes we were throwing over water, windy conditions. and tough tunnel shots. The community and tournament directors were all friendly and a ton of fun. My first round was not my best golf but consistent. I came back the next day shooting one of my best rounds enough to take first place home!

Disc Golf

I want to thank Next Adventure and Bryan Knudsen for helping with sponsorship of my travels to make it to these amazing events. Next Adventure supports our disc golf team but also many other local disc golf events, clinics, and tournaments! My summer is full of disc golf tournaments around Oregon and Washington, hope to continue the good play!
