Trip Report: Horseshoe Lake Golf Course

Horseshoe Lake Golf Course It’s springtime and for disc golfers, this means one weekend of wearing rain gear, carrying an umbrella and having hand warmers in your pocket is usually followed by the next weekend of wearing t-shirts and sunglasses. As I get out my rain gear for an upcoming tournament this weekend I can’t help thinking back a few weeks ago to one of those t-shirt days when Next Adventure teammate Jason Pinkal and I took a disc golf day trip. Horseshoe Lake Golf Course The forecast called for sun with temperatures in the lower 60’s so we headed north about 160 miles to Port Orchard, WA. Our destination was Horseshoe Lake Golf Course which I’m here to tell you offers a beautiful disc golf course that plays alongside the “ball” golf course. Jason and I left Portland around 7:30 am and arrived with plenty of time to stretch and practice putting before our 10:30 tee time (it’s best you make reservations ahead of time). Prior to the trip we thought we might get in two rounds and hoped to have enough daylight left to hit another course in the area on our way back to Portland. I believe it was halfway through the second round that we decided this course was so great (and we didn’t want to give up riding around in a golf cart, obviously) that we would just stay for a third round. Horseshoe Lake Golf Course One thing I love about disc golf is being on foot, in the woods, finding lines and angles to throw your shot as you navigate your way to the basket. I must say that playing on a manicured golf course over rolling hills amongst the tall firs of the Northwest is pretty awesome too. It’s not an everyday thing but I can’t recommend getting up to Horseshoe Lake Golf Disc Golf Course enough! It’s a special piece of property and they are very welcoming to disc golfers. It’s a pretty nice treat to roll around on the golf cart, have a clubhouse to get lunch in, indoor bathrooms, and a drink cart on the course that you’ll usually see at least once during a round. Well worth the green and cart fees! Horseshoe Lake Golf Course Check out the website. You’ll find course information including a downloadable caddy book, rates, and contact information for booking a tee time. https://www.hlgolf.com/disc-golf/ Horseshoe Lake Golf Course
