The Report: Hood River is an absolutely breathtaking town and it becomes even more beautiful from the water. I was lucky enough to get two days of stand up paddleboarding in this June and soak up some rays from the water. I went for 1 hour on the 13th, it was windy and there was a kite boarding competition so the SUP people had a cove to paddle around. It was pretty dull since there wasn't much space to explore and we were all confined into the small area, so I only did it for an hour.
Now on the 14th, conditions were ideal so I squeezed in a couple of hours before heading home. We went out on the river and explored. I had the best time. At one point there were 2 separate families of ducks, so I sat down on the board to be at their level and paddled with them as long as they would let me.
I would highly recommend renting a SUP and taking it down the Gorge for a day of exploration. Check out our kayak rentals and stand up paddleboard rentals and get your booty to the water!
