The Report: While visiting my family in Pennsylvania for the holidays, I had the awesome opportunity to join some friends on the "Top Yough," a classic East Coast class IV run. Located in Friendsville Maryland, this river is a favorite for paddlers from the Philadelphia and DC areas.
After driving for a few hours, I met up with some friends from Maryland and headed to the river. With great river levels, nice weather, and awesome friends, I knew that we would have a fun day on the water. I was even lucky enough to have the opportunity to demo the new Pyranha Burn III kayak on the run, which proved to be a boofing and eddy carving machine!
Although I love the rivers in the Northwest and can't wait to return, it was really great to see old friends, and re-acclimate myself with some fun East Coast paddling. I enjoyed running slides and whipping tight turns through boulder gardens- a paddling style that the East Coast is well renowned for.
