The Full Report
This is a fun day trip 2ish hours from Portland. The falls themselves are easily accessed from the parking lot by walking 100 ft.
Exploring the old power station requires a short walk down a steep section but is worth it for a look back in time although it's been heavily vandalized.
There is an established trail that follows along the river and I chose to hike for a couple hours one way. After another short steep section its a nice flat stroll along the river.
There are a couple small sections where you have to bushwack or climb over some rocks where the canyon walls brush up against the river. What's nice is the versatility of this place. It can be a stop and view while passing through. An easy day trip. Or a great spot to cool off on a hot summer day. All while seeing great sights both natural and man made.
