Trip Report: Wind River Mountain Range - Pinedale, Wyoming

When: 8/24/2020 Location: Wind River Range Conditions: Hot days and cool nights with predictable afternoon storms Duration: 4 days 3 nights Difficulty: Strenuous - 45 miles in 4 days with multiple mountain passes, some of which required route finding, at elevation. Kid Friendly: No Dog Friendly: No Usefull links: visitpinedale.org Wind River Range Full Report: Finally getting into the Winds! Start from Green River Lakes Trailhead and exiting at Elkhart Park Trailhead this 45-mile point to point hike is a perfect introduction to this iconic mountain range in western Wyoming. This is Grizzly country so taking proper bear precautions is important. There are a total of ten trailheads to access the west side of the Winds and anything from easy day hikes to 100+ mile backpacking trips are possible. The Continental Divide Trail also runs most of the length of this range and is easy to pick up from multiple trailheads.
