Video Gear Review: 2018 Atomic Backland Freeride 102 Ski - Next Adventure

Video Gear Review: 2018 Atomic Backland Freeride 102 Ski

Here's Yahi from Next Adventure to talk about the Atomic Backland FR 102 Ski. This is a lightweight ski that provides lots of float and great handling in soft snow.
- Hey guys, it's Yahi. I'm here to talk about Atomics Backland freeride 102 skis. So, this ski here is part of their backland series. It's lightweight. It is 102 millimeters underfoot. You get maximum performance with this guy off the trail, through the trees, & on powder. It is super stable and allows you to get a good edge on hard packed snow. This guy is made from a light wood core, so it is very forgiving and very playful on jumps or anything like that. You do have these carbon strips on the tip and the tail. It is a very responsive ski. It does also have a carbon bone that starts from the tip and goes all the way to the bottom. It is a 7000 series sintered base, so it is really fast on all types of snow and super easy to maintain. So, if you look at this ski here, it does almost look like a twin tip, however, if you start at the tip here it is a 20% rocker – a 70% camber - and then a 10% tip rocker. You do have a lot of playfulness in the ski. When skiing backward, it's not a problem at all. I am very impressed with this ski here. I think Atomic did a really good job. Its performance is great on and off the trail. You guys can come into the shop any day of the week and check these guys out or shop online at www.nextadventure.net and check them out there as well.
