Video Gear Review: Exped Downmat 7 M Insulated Sleeping Pad with Integrated Pump
The Exped DownMat 7 M is a lightweight insulated sleeping pad with an integrated pump. Filled with highly compressible goose down, the Exped DownMat 7 M offers an amazing 5.9 R-value to keep you warm and comfortable in all seasons. Next Adventure staffer Tristan shows how to use the integrated pump and goes offers some tips on inflating and deflating the pad.
- Hey, I'm Tristan Lallo.
I work at Next Adventure and this is a how-to demonstration on the Exped DownMat 7 M.
It's a little different from a regular sleeping pad. One of the huge differences is the integrated pump that it comes with. The integrated pump is built right into the side of the pad. It's a spongy area that goes right through the pad and has two indications noting hand placement.
Inflating the Exped DownMat 7 M
All you need to do is open the valve, you can see it already filling up just from getting some air in, then begin pressing down on the sponge. As you push down, it compresses and pushes air inside the pad, and as you let go it sucks air in. You just push - making sure to cover the valve as you push it down.
It fills up quickly, a lot faster than blowing it with your mouth and helps keep moisture out of the inside of the pad. Once the sleeping pad is full, close the valve and it's ready to go.
Get all the air out
One way that I like to do it is roll it up. Really get all that air out. Then I close the valve and roll it back out. Then roll it just once more to make sure I get all of the remaining air out. I'll keep that valve closed and then open it at the end, it just gets all that air out.
Comfortable and insulated
This is rated as a four-season pad. You can use it for any season due to the down filling and high insulation rating. It's also great for comfort, you're not going to feel the rocks underneath you.
That's it! Overall, it's a great pad. So yeah, if you want an awesome pad this is it. Exped DownMat 7 M
