Video Gear Review: Tecnica Forge GTX Heat Molded Hiking Boot

The Tecnica Forge is the first completely customizable hiking boot that utilizes heat molding technology, previously found only in high-end ski boots, to create a custom fit just for you. Today we're going to be talking about the Tecnica Forge and Forge S. This is the world’s first outdoor hiking boot with a customizable in-store fit. First off, we have the Tecnica Forge which has a leather upper, then we have the Tecnica Forge S, which is a synthetic option. What's really cool about these boots is that they offer a custom adaptive-shape-fit to your foot. What this means is that the inside insole gets molded directly to the shape of your foot. As well as the ankle, heel, and arch support - all get fitted and molded directly to your foot in the store. Other great features include Vibram Micro-Grip outsole, Gore-Tex lining on the inside, and self-locking eyelets that lock down the fit of the boot. It also features a wraparound tongue which adds increased stability and easy comfort. This is the heating waffle that we use to heat our soles up to 180-degrees, and then do the same with the outside and inside of the boot. It takes about eight minutes to heat up both of these and then three minutes for them to be pressurized and molded around your foot. The actual molding is done via light pressure utilizing Tecnica’s unique carbon system that inflates around the heated boot with your foot inside. All of the moldable parts, as well as the insole, can be remolded to your foot at any time to facilitate a better fit. Just stop into the store and we can do it.
